There are 3 fundamental reasons to choose ABA-PGT for an injection molding tool that produces a plastic gear or precision part:
MOLDABILITY
Custom design allows for minimum center distances for shorter runners of smaller diameter reducing scrap or regrind and assuring that the cycle is determined by the part and not by the runner. Cooling and heating channels are designed for balanced temperature control. Components are easily accessible for efficient preventive maintenance. Cavities are sectionalized to allow for venting and proper venting is built in. Maximum ejector surface area is designed in since it is extremely critical for short cycle times

ACCURACY
All frame bores, counter bores, and rectangular pockets are jig ground to precise size and location. Rounds are sized to inspection masters, and non-rounds are accurately made on our Hauser S40-400 CNC jig grinder. Replacements, if necessary, can be rapidly made and shipped without returning the mold since all documentation is kept on file.
LONGEVITY
ABA-PGT frames are hardened stainless steel to maximize life of the tool. Guide pins do not require bushings; water lines do not require nickel plating. While SPI/SPE Class 101 molds call for a one million cycle tool life, many ABA-PGT tools are still maintaining their accuracy over 10 million cycles, and more.

When low volume of moldings makes the manufacture of complete tooling price-prohibitive, we can resort to cavity sets or components to fit our precision universal die frames. We can provide you with identical frames and cavities.
Additionally, we are willing to quote the critical components of your gear molds, if you have a preferred source for the more basic toolmaking. This is our gear design service, and the completed gear cavities or inserts are made to that design and to our quality standards.
