Two Shot Molding
ABA-PGT has developed an expertise in two shot molding – allowing for:
- Increased product features in one part
- Reduced assembly steps and cost associated with post molding assembly
- Increased quality levels of gears requiring glass filled resins
Two shot injection molding fabricates a part from two different resins – in one press cycle time. Material selection of two compatible materials and/or interlocking features will assure a good union of the two resins. An example of two shot molding is a plastic gear with a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) friction wheel. Another is a plastic gear with a TPE valve component.
Our press of choice for two shot molding is an Arburg 420 C 1000-150 (110 ton multishot). Challenge us with your idea for a two shot part!
